Heavenly Worship: Anticipating the Divine Experience

By

This past year I heard a sermon that I really enjoyed and it taught me a few things. Here’s the link if you are interested, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M0SMyISnoY. Anyway, this sermon tells how Lucifer was over the angels who worshiped God. He was cast out of heaven. The ones who chose to follow him were worshipers. So heaven is short on worshipers. There was a time in my life when I used to think about how heaven wouldn’t be any fun. If all we got to do is worship God for eternity. But that was a time when I wasn’t living right. Now I can’t wait to worship Him when in church, it’s such a great feeling. And if I feel that when I worship here on earth. Can you even imagine what it will feel like to actually worship in His full presence? I don’t think our earthly body can contain it here on earth.

Which brings to mind something else I’ve been debating. When I was growing up, it seemed that someone had to be moved by the spirit to run. The same applied to dancing, jumping, or shouting. Nowadays, people seem to do those things freely. They consider it a way to express worship and thankfulness for the things He has done. I must say that this is one standard that has changed that I can get behind. I like that I can run around the church. I enjoy dancing or jumping up and down to express my love for Him.

If people can yell and act crazy over the skin of a pig getting thrown around. Then I can certainly go crazy over the fact that my Savior had mercy on me. I can’t wait to have a permanent position in heaven as a worshiper.

Yes yes, it is not biblical to worship only when you feel like it, or when the circumstances or attitude are in line! Yes everything must be done in order, David was completely in Gods will, when he worshiped with all his might. If I have to be moved by the circumstances to be good to my wife or to treat her right only when the atmosphere is right, then there’s something wrong. We love our loved ones no matter the circumstances, we don’t have to be moved to action to act on that love, it’s part of who we are. Developing a relationship with God becomes who we are as worshipers if one is waiting on the spirit to move him or her you’re missing out, nine times out of 10 if I feel led to move even when I’m not in the mood for it or the atmosphere is not right once I take that step God takes over .
